Rune Factory 5 Impressions – Destructoid

Image
It’ll probably still be better than Rocky V There was a brief period of time where it looked as though the world might never see another  Rune Factory  game. Neverland, the developer of the popular spinoff series, declared bankruptcy in 2013 following the release of  Rune Factory 4  for the Nintendo 3DS. In fact, it would be nearly six years before we got any news on a continuation of the franchise when developer Marvelous announced it was in development of  Rune Factory 5   for Nintendo Switch. Three years and some change later, the game is about ready to hit store shelves in North America, but you may want to temper your expectations. Rune Factory 5  takes place in the town of Rigbarth, where your amnesiac hero is welcomed to join the team known as SEED until they get their memory back. SEED is responsible for the town’s protection, and as a soldier of SEED, it’ll be up to you to defeat monsters and complete quests for townsfolk while also gro...

Valhalla Trailer Shows Leif Erikson On An Epic Quest To Vinland

Image
Happy Leif Erikson day, folks — hinga dinga durgen! Okay, fine, so it’s not  actually  Leif Erikson day, which we know to be the most important public holiday of them all. But we’ve got something almost as good for you at this haggard beginning of the week: a new, final trailer for  Vikings: Valhalla , the follow-up series to  Vikings , the wildly popular and viciously brutal story of Norse hero Ragnar Lothbrok. While the original show premiered on the History channel,  Valhalla  marks the first installment of the franchise to be released on Netflix. It premieres on February 25, and if the new trailer is anything to go by, we really don’t want to miss out. What a year it is for bloody Viking stories: the trailer for  Valhalla  boasts a lot of visual parallels to that for  Robert Eggers ‘  The Northman , also releasing in the first half of this year. It’s not quite as trippy, and arguably would benefit from  Bjork  — what...

Image
Sony might not have locked down PlayStation VR2 specifications despite providing some details at CES 2022. Tobii says it’s in talks to provide eye tracking technology for the next-gen VR headset. It noted the discussions were “ongoing” and that it couldn’t share the potential financial impact of the deal. The firm is required to divulge the negotiations to honor EU market regulations. We’ve asked Sony for comment. The company previously confirmed the PlayStation VR2 would use eye tracking, but didn’t name a tech supplier or explain in detail how the feature would work. The headset will also use camera-based “inside-out” tracking to detect head and controller movement. The revelation suggests PlayStation VR2 might not arrive for a while. Game console makers typically need to solidify hardware specs well in advance, both for the sake of manufacturing and to give developers time to produce games optimized for new devices. If Sony still hasn’t chosen a provider for a key feature like...
